BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
I was born Amanda Martin in December of 1962 to Edward Wayne and Mary Ann (Thigpen) Martin.  My father was an officer in the Air Force and had been married to my mother for two years. I was their first child, followed two years later by only sibling, my brother Gary.

My youth was spent moving all over the country.  I have lived in seven states and been in almost all of them. My parents always made moving enjoyable and educational.  I am so grateful I have had such a wonderful opportunity to see this great country from the big cities to the calm countryside.  I love all of it. Although, as much as I loved being able to see this great country, my deepest desire and lifelong dream was to put down roots and have a permanent home.

So now I have done that.  I have lived in Georgia for over 20 years now. I have been with my husband Darrell for 10 years now, married for 3. All my family live here as does my husband's.  I have my family, long time friends, godchildren, love for my community - I have my roots. My husband, Darrell,  and I just bought a home we love and are having a blast redecorating and remodeling.

 
 

FACTS ABOUT ME

  • Nothing is more important than God, Family and Country - in that order.
     

  • I am a Conservative Christian with Libertarian leanings.
     

  • My Daddy is my hero. My mother is a lady I wish I were more like. My husband is my knight in shining armour.
     

  • I am passionate about the things I love as well as the things I hate. I am more ruled by my emotions than my logic.

  • I like order and prefer things "just so" but have a hard time maintaining order (which should change with the purchase of a house).
    I am a pack rat.
     

  • I am an avid reader. I like biographies, historical novels, sci-fi, fantasy, true and fictional crime.

  • I adore classic films and stars - Cary Grant, Kate Hepburn, John Wayne, Charleton Heston, Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Bogie.
     

  • I love "cheesy" films, in particular Hammer House Horror films - you remember - the Dracula movies with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, Barbarella, Logan's Run, Planet of the Apes series, Soylent Green - you get the idea.

  • History fascinates me. I am most drawn to the Medieval history of Britain and Europe, most particularly in royalty.
     

  • I think the music of the 1970's is the best there is.
     

  • I am a big fan of the Bard. Shakespeare is the best storyteller who has ever lived.
     

  • My husband excepted, I think William Shatner is the hottest man on Earth, followed closely by Sean Connery with our friend Bjarni holding strong in the third position. It's ok, my husband knows.
     

  • I think Maureen O'Hara is the most beautiful woman to ever live.
     

  • Betty Boop and Scooby Doo are my favorite cartoons followed closed by anything Looney Tunes.
     
  • I am a Trekkie. Not a trekker - a Trekkie.  I have loved Star Trek TOS since it first aired in the 1960's.  Captain Kirk is my hero. I know every episode and film by heart. I have pictures of Captain Kirk on my computer tower.  I attend conventions. I met James Doohan, Dee Kelly, George Takei, Nichelle Nichols and Matt Jeffries (true fans will know who he is). I AM A GEEK!
     
  • I voted for George W. Bush and I am damn proud of it!  I love our President!
